Richard Paolone, Partner
Richard is a Toronto-based securities lawyer with experience in corporate finance, securities law, and M&A. Prior to Oakridge Law, Richard was the principal of Paolone Law. Richard acts as an advisor to management teams, boards and shareholders, while overseeing governance and compliance procedures. Richard currently serves as a board member of iSpecimen Inc. (NASDAQ: ISPC) and is a board member and the interim CEO of Entero Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ: ENTO). Richard has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, a Juris Doctorate, and is currently licensed to practice law in Ontario.
James O’Brien, Partner
James regularly advises clients on various corporate matters focusing on the sale and acquisition of businesses across a wide array of industries including agriculture, manufacturing, transport and healthcare.
In addition to his legal acumen, James has a passion for corporate finance, currently completing Level 3 of the CFA program. This combined skillset provides James with a unique ability to analyze a transaction above and beyond that of your typical M&A lawyer.
Prior to joining Oakridge Law LLP, James was a M&A / Securities Partner at MLT Aikins LLP where he practiced for 12 years. Outside of his practice of law, James is a founding member of Sustainable Equity Partners Ltd., a development company focused on the development of affordable multi-family housing across Canada.
Joseph Tung, Partner
Joseph is a securities and corporate lawyer with experience advising clients operating in cryptocurrency, resources, technology and cannabis. Joseph provides guidance on regulatory compliance, securities law and M&A. Joseph focuses on delivering practical legal solutions while advising clients on the complexity of business transactions. Joseph is currently a Board Member of Shuttle Pharmaceuticals Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ: SHPH). Prior to joining Oakridge Law, Joseph worked with a Toronto based boutique, full-service law firm. Joseph holds a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo and has passed Level 2 of the CFA Program.
